Q: I want to build my own climbing wall. Can you help me design it?

A: Here is a link to our How to Build A Climbing Wall brochure. It should include most of the information you’re looking for. If you have more technical questions, please consult a contractor.

Q: What is the difference between a screw-on and bolt-on hold?

A: Bolt-on holds require a t-nut on the back of the wall, and can be moved interchangeably between holes. Screw-on holds are screwed on from the front of the wall, and cannot be moved around on the wall without leaving screw holes.

Q: Can I use your climbing holds outside?

A: No, unfortunately, you cannot. The hold material may fade or become damaged, and the hardware will rust. For holds specifically made for outdoor use, try Atomik Climbing.

Q: What are your best climbing holds for kids?

A: Definitely our Mini Jugs. They’re positive and finger-friendly, while still maintaining a small footprint on the wall.

CAM REPAIRS

Q: Do you resling or repair cams made by companies other than Metolius?

A: No, unfortunately we don’t, we can only resling or repair Metolius cams.

Q: How long does it take you to repair cams?

A: Plan on two weeks in the shop, plus shipping.

PRO DEALS

Q: How do I qualify for a pro deal with Metolius?

A: We’re happy to offer pro deals to the employees of our dealers, AMGA-certified guides, and members of the military. To qualify, just email info@metoliusclimbing.com from an official email address, or send a pay stub or photo ID. We’ll email you back with a code you can enter on our website to get a pro deal.

HEADQUARTERS

Q: Do you have a retail shop?

A: No, we don’t. If you live nearby, or are travelling through Bend, you are welcome to place an order on our website and request to pick it up at our headquarters. We don’t have an actual retail store, though.

Q: Do you offer tours?

A: Yes, we do! We do need at least 24 hours notice, but we are happy to show you around our headquarters! Tours take about an hour, and are offered Monday through Friday, from 10 – 2.

TRAINING BOARDS

Q: Do I need a backboard behind my training board?

A: No, you don’t. You should attach your training board with at least six screws, but as long as they’re going into studs, you don’t need the backboard. However, attaching the training board to a backboard will give you a lot more flexibility with attaching your board, because the holes don’t need to line up perfectly with your studs.

Q: I lost the screws for my hangboard. What size are they?

A: The screws that come with our hangboard are 3-inch #9 decking screws.
